Our Lace Bra Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.

This is a very romantic lace. The motifs are delicate and intricately curved, but they aren't perfect, they're a little bit distressed. Then you add the delicate little dots and the subtle texture of the tulle and you have a little dose of magic for the dreamer in you. Our Featured Artist Jennie loves this kit, and she knows how to make a lace shine to its best advantage! Don't you love how she used the vertical motifs to create a frame all around her face? I wish that I could get a good picture of how very delicate and beautiful this kit is!

One of the things that I love about this lace is that it feels a bit hand-sketched. It reminds me somehow of the real Beauty and the Beast fairy tale (not the Disney version). There is something both delicate and gritty, feminine without being girly, artistic rather than manufactured. I can see this in an old castle. We are offering this kit with either Latte or Vanilla Cream silk (sold out) or Cocoa Butter fabrics. The elastics are in Bark. You can definitely leave us a note and let us know if you'd like us to change these colors up for you.

Jennie used the "Under the Arbor" mashup that mixes an adaptation of her Grace bra with the back and sleeve of the Emily bra from Michelle's Armoire. She added a simple pair of French Knickers using the Willow pattern from Sew Your Own Wardrobe and added some Marie undies from Evie la Luve. She used the Latte silk for her set, and popped the elastics with Bark. Isn't it a beauty?

This bra kit features either Stretch Silk Satin with Sheer Cup Lining, or your choice of Microduoplex, Super Simplex, Tricot, Sheer Cup Lining or Microlycra as the base fabric. One kit contains everything that you need to make a bra and has enough fabric for 2 with many sizes. To get the second bra with larger sizes, upgrade to the half yard of cup fabric and add a bra finishing kit.

Sewing Notes:
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
