Our Lace Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful lace bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.

Good-bye winter and hello spring! Our customers were so ready to say 'Hello Spring' that we quickly sold out of our April Kit of the Month, Singing in the Rain. Not to worry! I have another gorgeous blue-grey stretch lace up my sleeve!  Add to the misty, soft, spring rain feeling of Dancing in the Rain the sweet flowers patterned on this new lace like a delightfully choreographed spring dance and there you have it, Singing and Dancing in the Rain.  I have paired this lace with our new spring color, Rain. Not quite grey and not quite blue, Rain will make you think of a comfortable and faded pair of denim jeans. Combine that cozy, comfortable color with the elegance of this 6-1/2" stretch lace and enjoy the best of both worlds in our April Kit of the Month #2, Singing and Dancing in the Rain. And we also came across 20 more of the lovely, limited availability, Swarovski crystal raindrops for the center gore of this exquisite lace bra for the first 20 customers to buy this kit. The amazing Liz from Liz Sews created the original Singing in the Rain bra pictured here. She chose the Chelsea pattern from Elise Patterns so that the bottom cup would look like an umbrella. Isn't that just perfect!?

You can choose your fabrics to get your perfect look and fit. For cups, you may choose Microduoplex, which is the gold standard for a supportive bra. The microduoplex is buttery soft, never ravels or frays, is almost indestructible and lets clothing glide right over it. It has a satin side and a matte side, and you can use either side as the right side. If you've used other duoplex for your bra building, you'll be delighted with the Microduoplex. It has all the lovely features of the polyester Duoplex available elsewhere, but has a lovely hand and conforms to your shape even better. You can also specify Tricot for your cups. Line Tricot cups with the same Tricot fabric but orient the stretch in opposite directions. Or you can go for a more transparent look with a Sheer Cup Lining base fabric. We are also offering our Microlycra as an option with this kit.  It's smooth, liquid, soft and buttery, completely opaque but not at all thick and heavy. You can also choose regular or firm power net for your band. Use our regular weight power net for 75% stretch, great comfort, and very good support. Use our firm weight power net  for the strongest support with 50% stretch. Choose the size of your hook and eye and the type of straps that you want.  The price of the kit will change based upon the base fabric that you specify.  One kit contains everything that you need to make a bra and has enough fabric for 2 with many sizes. To get the second bra with larger sizes, upgrade to the half yard of cup fabric and add a bra finishing kit in Rain.

To complete your Singing and Dancing in the Rain set we are offering a Singing and Dancing in the Rain Lace Panty Kit  If you prefer a Stretch Mesh Panty or Microlycra Panty, that would be stunning as well. Choose our new spring color Rain for a beautiful set. Or why not have a little fun by coordinating your Singing and Dancing in the Rain Lace Bra with a pair of darling April Showers Bamboo Jersey Panties!

Sewing Notes:
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
