Our Lace Bra Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.

I remember when I was just a girl, my mom gushed about her mom's Wedgewood china. This, of course, made Wedgewood into a semi-mythological hallmark of all that is fine and beautiful. When I was older I finally saw the famed Wedgewood china in a store. I adored the creamy white reliefs against the rich blue. Then I finally saw my grandmother's china. To my surprise, it wasn't blue and white -- it was still gorgeous though!

I've used this fine china as my inspiration for our January Kit of the Month. "Wedgewood" features beautiful Wedgewood blue fabric and elastics with white lace. I selected a gorgeous, soft, supple Guipure lace with a rose motif, and it looks just like I wanted it to look. The blue stands out well against the white, and the open spots in the lace really give it the look of traditional Wedgewood. Some of you might prefer a more conventional lace, so I have a second option with a beautiful white stretch lace. This lace has a more "filled in" background so the Wedgwood look isn't quite as strong. We've filled all our Kit of the Month Club kits, and most of them chose the rose Guipure lace, so if you want this lace choice you should order quickly. If we run out of the rose lace we'll fill your kit order with the stretch lace. You can also choose to make some or all of your elastics white. Just leave me a note on the order and I'll switch it up for you. Both looks are gorgeous.

We also have a coordinating print for this kit. I'm not sure if you are on Instagram, but my daughter brought me a little bouquet of forget-me-nots with ferns as a little present from the lake. I loved it! We have a beautiful new bamboo jersey print with Wedgewood blue forget-me-nots, all surrounded by ferns and other pretty things. It's a great coordinating print with the Wedgewood lace bra. We'll offer this print in all our kit types, so you can make a gorgeous mix and match set of lingerie. Oh so pretty!!

We’ve had 2 talented sewists make bras with this kit. Jess from @themadcutters made this darling bralette and Nadine from @heartpleat made this gorgeous bra. I’ll post patterns once I know them. Aren’t they both beautiful??

You can also choose one of our Undie kits to make a matching set. We have kits in light and breezy Stretch Mesh, smooth and airy Microlycra Air, and silky and liquid Microlycra. Just choose the Seasonal Color Wedgewood Blue for a beautiful match. Leave a note on the kit if you want your elastics in white to continue the Wedgewood theme.

This bra kit features either Microduoplex, Sheer Cup Lining, Tricot, or Microlycra as the base fabric. One kit contains everything that you need to make a bra and has enough fabric for 2 with many sizes. To get the second bra with larger sizes, upgrade to the half yard of cup fabric and add a bra finishing kit.

A Wedgewood Lace Bra Kit contains:

    • A fat quarter of Microduoplex, Sheer Cup Lining, Microlycra or Super Simplex in Frost
      • Add an extra kit cut of cup fabric and you'll receive a half yard
    • 28" x 14" of Powernet (specify regular or firm weight) in Wedgewood Blue
    • 1 1/2 yards of Wedgewood lace (stretch lace will substitute for the Guipure once we run out of the Guipure)
    • Band elastics in Wedgewood Blue (leave me a note for white)
      • 1 1/2 yards of 3/8" scalloped band elastic
      • 1 1/4 yards of 5/8" or 1/2" scalloped band elastic
    • 1 yard of plush channeling in Wedgewood Blue
    • Twill tape for seam stabilization
    • 3 hook and eyes (please specify 2 or 4) in Wedgewood Blue
    • Strap elastic
      • 6" plus interfacing for self straps (no rings and slides)
      • 1 1/2 yards plus rings and slides for elastic straps in Wedgewood Blue (leave me a note for white)

Sewing Notes:
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
