We are excited to present our October Kit of the Month, "Retro Mod". The print brings to mind those fabulous sixties and seventies fashions, the fishnet stockings and mini skirts that we had to try to get past mom on our way out the door for school! While Tulle Lace is generally rigid, this lace is printed on stretch mesh which makes it amazingly soft and supple. The orange we have created for this kit is called Persimmon. Persimmon is a saturated color. It's on the yellow side of orange and has a little bit of earthiness to it. We just love it! We are offering 3 color options with this kit. The first option is to choose the cup fabric, power net and all findings in Persimmon. The second option is to get all the fabrics in cream and all the elastics in persimmon. Lastly, you may want to choose everything in Cream.
For a deliciously soft and comfortable option try our Retro Mod Bralette Kit here. Or pop on over to our Retro Mod Lace Panty Kit! This lace will make the softest pair of panties! The pretty edging on the lace will be beautiful for the top of your panties with just a thin elastic behind it for support. Or for a matching solid panty, try our Microlycra Panty Kit or Stretch Mesh Panty Kit in Persimmon or Cream
You can choose your fabrics to get your perfect look and fit. For cups, you may choose Microduoplex, which is the gold standard for a supportive bra. The microduoplex is buttery soft, never ravels or frays, is almost indestructible and lets clothing glide right over it. It has a satin side and a matte side, and you can use either side as the right side. If you've used other duoplex for your bra building, you'll be delighted with the microduoplex. It has all the lovely features of the polyester duoplex available elsewhere, but it has a lovely hand and conforms to your shape even better. You can also specify Tricot for your cups. Line Tricot cups with the same Tricot fabric but orient the stretch in opposite directions. Finally you can go for a more transparent look with a Sheer Cup Lining base fabric. You can also choose regular or firm power net for your band, the size of your hook and eye and the type of straps that you want. Use our regular weight power net for 75% stretch, great comfort, and very good support. Use our firm weight power net for the strongest support with 50% stretch. This is the power net that Bravo Bella carried for much of 2017 and 2018 except that it isn't stiff, it's soft. The price of the kit will change based upon the base fabric that you specify.

The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
