Our Lace Bra Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.

I lived in Iceland for a year, and I was entranced by the night sky during the winter. The combination of blues and greens with the northern lights would paint beautiful pictures across the sky. I love the way that this lace echoes that gorgeous combination of deep night with electric green. We're offering this kit with a beautiful variety of colors which all play with the cooler end of the spectrum.

Our Featured Artist Asmaa made this Willowdale using our Sea Stretch Silk Satin. Don't you love her lace placement on the frame?? She carried the silk down to the center panel on the undies, which play with the same lace placement detail, and she put lace on the power bar. Join us this summer at the Bra Sewing Bee to learn how to put lace on your power bar! Asmaa used a Sea strap, but we also love a Willow strap on this one to pull out the greens in the lace -- very northern lights ;). You can see that in the picture of the Sea kit.

We're also offering this kit with Minty Fresh, which picks up the green even more. I'm not a fan of the Willow strap on this version, but I completely love the full Minty Fresh bra! It makes it a natural for March, where the greens are just beginning to come out and some of us celebrate St. Patrick's Day. You can see this color combination as a kit. As the default, you'll get Sea if you order the silk and Minty Fresh for the other base fabrics.

For the silk option, the bra fabrics will be Sea. All other base fabrics are Minty Fresh. Elastics match the band except the Silk has the option for Willow on the strap. Your panty will coordinate with your base fabric choices unless you specify otherwise, and if you select a Willow strap you will get Willow as your panty elastics and Sea as the fabric. As always, feel free to choose your favorite elastics or narrow lace (please leave us a note if you don't see your choice!). You can also add a 9" square of absorbent fabric for your panty panel! You can find our collection of Waist Lace and Elastics here, and our collection of Leg Lace here.

Sewing Notes:
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
