We're doing 2 kits of the Month in November. One is the Majestic kit with the gorgeous Guipure lace. The second kit is a bit more typical and yet still very beautiful Bountiful kit, featuring a bronze leaf pattern with copper accents. Our Featured Artist Liz made this beautiful bra using the Labellum pattern from Lilypad Designs. Don't you love how she has overlaid the trailing motifs of the lace onto the lower cups? I really love the sweet yellow flowers in that trailing motif, so this is a terrific use of the lace from my point of view!
With its copper accents, this lace cries out for a bit of Burnished Copper, which we're offering as an elastics option. You can see that Liz used that color in her bra. The background color on the bra is Sand, which is a lovely golden brown neutral. You might want to upgrade to extra fabric on this kit, a findings kit in Sand and some of our Mighty Oak lace for second amazingly beautiful bra. This is exactly what Liz did! With the new patterns for undies that work with rigid lace, we've decided to make an Undie kit available for the set. You can also order a regular Panty kit in Microlycra or Stretch Mesh. Just ask for Sand to match. You can also ask for Burnished Copper for your undie elastics.
This bra kit features either Microduoplex, Sheer Cup Lining, Super Simplex, Microlycra or Tricot as the base fabric. One kit contains everything that you need to make a bra and has enough fabric for 2 with many sizes. To get the second bra with larger sizes, upgrade to the half yard of cup fabric and add a bra finishing kit.
A Bountiful Lace Bra Kit contains:

- A fat quarter of Microduoplex, Sheer Cup Lining, Super Simplex, Microlycra or Tricot in Sand
- Add an extra kit cut of cup fabric and you'll receive a half yard
- 28" x 14" of Powernet (specify regular or firm weight) in Sand
- 1 1/2 yards of Bountiful lace
- Band elastics in Sand or Burnished Copper
- 1 1/2 yards of 3/8" scalloped band elastic
- 1 1/4 yards of 5/8" scalloped band elastic
- 1 yard of plush channeling in Sand
- Twill tape for seam stabilization
- 3 hook and eyes (please specify 2 or 4) to match the band
- Strap elastic

- 6" plus interfacing for self straps (no rings and slides)
- 1 1/2 yards plus rings and slides for elastic straps in Sand or Burnished Copper
Sewing Notes:
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
