One 5 year old we know fell in love with a piece of our Ultra Wide Lingerie Elastic. She needed to have a pair of undies made from that elastic- and now she's hooked on Tricot panties! The best thing about Tricot undies is that they are so, so smooth against the skin, and feel very light.
The smaller kit includes an 18" x 26" portion of our silky-smooth Tricot, 2 one yard cuts of leg elastic/lace, and 2 three quarter's yard cuts of waist elastic/lace, plus a small cut of cotton jersey. This is approximately what it takes to make 2 pair of children's briefs (up to about a size 12-14). The larger kit includes a 27" x 26" portion of Tricot, 3 one yard cuts of leg elastic/lace, and 3 three quarter's yard cuts of waist elastic/lace, plus a small cut of cotton jersey. Depending upon your pattern, you're likely to be able to get 3 pair children's briefs (up to about a size 12-14) from this kit. We chose the elastics or lace, but if you have a preference for elastic or lace, please leave us a note!
The sewist who made the panties in the photo was able to get 3 pair from the smaller kit, two pair of size 5 and one pair in size 14. She told us she would have been able to get three of the larger size had she laid out all her pattern piece before cutting rather than cutting them one pair at a time.
Sewing note: Tricot has mechanical give against the grain but no stretch. Be sure to select a pattern which accommodates these characteristics or that you add enough ease for a good fit. Place the direction of mechanical give going around the body for the best fit and comfort.
