Our kits this month feature the colors of festive beverages -- Merlot wine and bubbly Champagne. Champagne looks exactly like its beverage namesake. It's a light, warm yellow with hints of pink. You can enhance the pink feeling by choosing the light stretch lace with its accents of pink. You can also choose to highlight the autumn season with the Merlot lace.
The second color way this month is a rich, warm burgundy red called Merlot. This color is a warmer burgundy color, not a purple burgundy color. It's absolutely beautiful. The Merlot lace is a tasteful floral pattern with a deep brown accent. The intricate lace pattern is beautiful. Remember when pairing a stretch lace over a rigid fabric like a bra cup you'll want to cut your lace just a bit smaller than the rigid fabric so there isn't any bagging. This isn't necessary when covering a stretch fabric like the band. You can make a pair or more of matching panties with our coordinating "Tipsy" Microlycra or Stretch Mesh panty kits.
You can choose your fabrics to get your perfect look and fit. For cups, you may choose Microduoplex, which is the gold standard for a supportive bra. The microduoplex is buttery soft, never ravels or frays, is almost indestructible and lets clothing glide right over it. It has a satin side and a matte side, and you can use either side as the right side. If you've used other duoplex for your bra building, you'll be delighted with the microduoplex. It has all the lovely features of the polyester duoplex available elsewhere, but it has a lovely hand and conforms to your shape even better. You can also specify Tricot for your cups. Line Tricot cups with the same Tricot fabric but orient the stretch in opposite directions. Finally you can go for a more transparent look with a Sheer Cup Lining base fabric. You can also choose regular or firm power net for your band, the size of your hook and eye and the type of straps that you want. Use our regular weight power net for 75% stretch, great comfort, and very good support. Use our firm weight power net for the strongest support with 50% stretch. This is the power net that Bravo Bella carried for much of 2017 and 2018. The price of the kit will change based upon the base fabric that you specify.

The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
