Our Lace Bra Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.
Don't you love this beautiful bra that our Featured Artist Asmaa made? She created a mini capsule for us using ALL FREE Patterns! She used the Maya pattern from AFI Atelier, the Kiwiki triangle bralette pattern from Fitiyoo, the High Waisted French Knickers pattern from Alissa C Montanez, the Hipster Knickers from Make Bra, and the Liberta Panty pattern from Sew Intimates. She used the French Vanilla Stretch Silk Satin for the bralette and the French knickers, and a combination of the lace and our Tiffany print for the Maya bra and the 2 other panties. Isn't it so darling? My daughter has already asked for the bralette!
This beautiful monotone Snowfall lace is as soft as a snowflake, and it works beautifully with our color Buttermilk. You can also juxtapose it against a deeply colored background, you can pick up the golden threads with both warm and cool tones, and you can bring out the drama with Electric Blue. Each color brings a new overall vibe to your bra. Because there are golden threads woven throughout the embroidery we're including Gold rings and sliders to capture this glimmer. The overall pattern reminds me of a classically decorated fancy dress ball -- a Snow Ball!
Several of our Stretch Silk Satin colors coordinate with Snow Queen Lace. Choose from Navy, (I would use Ink on the elastics and band and bring out a Buttermilk Strap), Electric Blue (on this one we'd do all Buttermilk since we don't have a good color match, and because I think it would increase the drama), Vanilla Cream (sold out) or Latte (all Buttermilk with these two for a more monotone look) or Amber (I would do Amber everywhere except for a Buttermilk strap). Each adds something unique to this lace. We'll put together your kit with findings and fabric according to your description. If you don't leave us a description, we'll do it up as I've described. Finally, if you choose any of our other bases, your kit will be in Buttermilk.
We also have two prints this month that work beautifully with our Let it Snow bra kit, the first of which is the Tiffany print. Did you know that there were 2 Tiffanies? One started a fancy jewelry store that has light blue boxes and designs intricate gold rings. The other (his son) made stained glass art. This print is the perfect intersection of those 2 famous Tiffanies. I also love that Tiffany is the name of the daughter of my good friend. Don't you love a name that's a name?
Our second print takes you from elegant ball to cozy cabin in the woods. Our Celtic plaid bamboo jersey works so wonderfully with this lace! I don't have a good picture of this yet, but should soon. I love the idea of the creamy snowy lace punctuated with this warm and cozy plaid. This version of the kit is set to appeal to our warm-color lovers!

For the silk option, the entire bra will be as either you or I have described. All other base fabrics have all Buttermilk. Your panty will coordinate with your base fabric choices unless you specify otherwise. As always, feel free to choose your favorite elastics or narrow lace (please leave us a note if you don't see your choice!). You can also add a 9" square of absorbent fabric for your panty panel! You can find our collection of Waist Lace and Elastics here, and our collection of Leg Lace here.
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
