Our Lace Bra Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.
The longest day of the year offers a little bit more opportunity for fun... just like our Solstice Lace Bra Kit! Bright, Bold and Fun- this bra is exactly what you need to carry you into summer. Solstice lace is full of peppy details- a yellowy orange tulle background with black embroidered flowers, the petals have a subtle pink and sky blue hue which either fades or stands out depending upon what you place it over. Over Monarch, the blue fades away to let the gorgeous floral design rise and the pink takes on its role. Over Sky or Midnight, the pastel palette take the stage. The chameleon nature of this lace lets you choose your flavor; festive and spunky, cheery and sweet, sultry and adventurous- how will you make your Solstice?
To create this amazing set, our Featured Artist Rowena used the Devonshire Bra by Orange Lingerie. She adapted it to have to a partial band longline with a cutout and contoured bridge & frame design. The way she mirrored the cutout in the panties is simply perfect! For the bra, she created two back bands that are partially crossed over and close with 2 sets of 2 hook and eyes. The stretch lace in the cups and frame is lined with sheer cup lining. She used Regular Power Net for the back bands and appliqued with small pieces of the lace. This is a stretch lace, so you can add lace to your band. Additional strap elastic is used to decorate and stabilize the center front cutout. She also used Rigilene boning in the side seam channeling. Monarch is her base color, and Bubblegum is her accent color. We adore the energy in her stellar set!
Notice that little charm dangling into the cutout? We are providing a sun charm and it adds just a little something special! Check out the picture of the bra kit fabric to see the charm that we're including. We'll be including these little charms in every kit until they are gone.
We are offering a variety of colorways for this kit- the default will be Sky base with Sky accent. This is the most subtle personality for this kit. But we love a bold adventurer, so feel free to pick your favorite combo from the photos: for your base color, choose from our Monarch, Sky or Midnight colorways and for your accent, we are offering Bubblegum, Monarch, Sky or Midnight. Each color pulls outs something different in this exciting lace. It is really amazing how this lace morphs depending upon the company it keeps. Just let us know what you want and we'll customize it just for you.
To make your bra like Rowena's, request a few modifications to your kit. We've already increased the channeling to 1.5 yards, but if you would like to do use a double hook and eye closure like Rowena, just leave us a note. Rigilene boning is found here.
We are also offering a Solstice Lace panty kit so you can make a matching set for yourself. Hop on over to the listing here.

The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
