Sometimes you want some materials that you don't care a whole lot about in order to practice a sewing project. You want to work with the materials and practice techniques. This kit is perfect for that! You'll receive a cup fabric, a band fabric, a yard or so of lace and a set of findings. The fabric probably has dye issues, and it might be imperfect in other ways. The materials won't match. But it will be wonderful for practicing! Since the Beginner Experience this year is working with the Sahaara, we're offering the option to add a bit of foldover elastic to you kit so you can practice with this material also.
If you're looking to refine your fit in addition to working with the materials and techniques, I recommend that you also pick up a Beginning Bra Builder Bundle, which has enough fabric and elastics for several tries. The Bundle comes with Water Soluble Thread, which is a great way to re-use your materials. Even if you don't pick up the Bundle, you might want to pick up Water Soluble Thread. Sew with it in the bobbin and just use a bit of water to harvest your materials and try again.
We are offering 2 sizes with these kits. The Larger kit typically comes with about a half yard of cup fabric rather than a fat quarter (we call this a Kit Cut). A Larger kit will usually have Firm Power Net and larger findings. The colors and laces are random, and may not match each other.
A Practice Kit typically includes:
- Cup fabric
- about 1/2 yard for a Larger, about a Fat Quarter for a Smaller
- Band fabric - about a kit cut of Regular or Firm Power Net
- Lace - a yard of lace
- A Findings kit
- 1 1/2 yards upper band elastic
- 1 1/4 yards lower band elastic
- 1 yard of channeling
- 1 1/2 yards of strap elastic
- 2 rings and 2 slides
- a hook and eye unit
