Our Bra Builder Combo Kits take the guesswork out of bra building by putting together everything you'll need to make a beautiful Bra using your own pattern. If you need a pattern, we have a great selection on our Patterns Page, both paper and downloadable.

Sometimes you want your lingerie to have pizzazz! Sometimes you want it to be a subtle accent that lets you or your clothing have the pizzazz. Our new Neutral Collection is an assembly of kits that have all the loveliness that comes with exquisite laces and custom-mixed colors, but with an understated elegance. Of course, sometimes neutral can also be ornate, and this is exactly the case with this black and gold beauty. This 13 1/2" (really!!) wide lace is very flat and liquid, and will add a sophisticated luster to what's underneath.  We'll pair the lace with our Basic color Midnight, which is what we have named elegant black. This bra kit features either Microduoplex, Sheer Cup Lining, Tricot or Microlycra as the base fabric.

Our new Featured Artist Nadine from Switzerland made this lovely, Elizabethan-era strapless longline from the Diamond Bustier pattern from Bramakers Supply. The lace is quite wide, so there was plenty to craft the gorgeous black accents at both the top and bottom of the bra. From Nadine, "This one from the nude collection reminded me so much of the late Elizabethian and Renaissance gowns that are pictured in old paintings. Because it’s darker toned I thought of Catarina De’ Medici. The width of the lace lends itself to making a longline bra, I think. I’d love to mirror the lace exactly in the middle so I can give it a „stiff“ and regal look - like a corset but comfy. When finished it should look like a super-regal undergarment..."

You might want a matching pair of panties to go with your Gold Leaf bra. This is a stretch lace, so you can pick up some of the lace as yardage and some panty elastic in your color choice to either pair with our lovely Microlycra Panty Kit or our beautiful Stretch Mesh Panty Kit or to make a pair of lace panties on their own.  Then pop on over to the listings for those kits and choose Midnight for a matching set.

One Bra Builder Combo kit contains everything that you need to make a bra and has enough fabric for 2 with many sizes. To get the second bra with larger sizes, upgrade to the half yard of cup fabric and add a bra finishing kit.

Bra Kit contains:

    • A fat quarter of Microduoplex, Sheer Cup Lining, Microlycra or Tricot in Midnight
      • Add an extra kit cut of your cup fabric and you'll receive a half yard
    • 28" x 14" of Powernet (specify regular or firm weight) in Midnight
    • 1.5 yards of Gilded tulle lace
    • Band elastics in Midnight
      • 1 1/2 yards of 3/8" scalloped band elastic
      • 1 1/4 yards of 5/8" scalloped band elastic
    • 1 yard of plush channeling in Midnight
    • Twill tape for seam stabilization (if requested)
    • 3 hook and eyes (please specify 2 or 4)
    • Strap elastic
      • 6" plus interfacing for self straps (no rings and slides)
      • 1 1/2 yards plus rings and slides for elastic straps

Sewing Notes:
The strength of our microduoplex fabric, which makes it so wonderful for bras, also makes it hard to puncture with needles and pins. This is true with most duoplex fabrics. Use either fine silk pins or Wonder Clips to pin (I find Wonder Clips work best), and a Microtex 80/12 needle with a smooth thread like Superior Threads So Fine or Mettler Metrosene to make it easy to sew. In my testing, the So Fine thread and Microtex 80/12 won the challenge of the nicest stitch on microduoplex, and as long as my presser foot completely covered the seam allowance, I found it just as easy to sew as quilting cotton. I moved the needle to the right to set my seam allowance at 1/4" since my presser foot is a bit wide. I find it works well to saturate the lace with liquid starch and let it dry before laying out your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric. This stiffens the lace until you wash it and the lace has enough body to behave well in the sewing process.
We offer all these pins, clips, needles and thread here on our site.
