Are you looking to make your own bras? The Jordy is a great place to start for women whose breast volume is petite to moderate, and it's super cute! Natalie will walk you through the entire sewing process, but only after you've already learned all about materials, parts of the bra, sewing techniques and all the other things that provide the foundation for lingerie sewing. We'll step through in a logical, methodical manner, and you'll have real support the entire time.
Natalie will show 2 different ways to finish your Jordy. One has a lace insert in the center of the cup and the other has a full lace overlay on the cup. We have 2 different kits, a cool purple and blue with Shakespeare (...a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet...) and a warm peach with Patsy (named for Patsy Cline). Both kits are great for this project. There will be plenty of fabric, so you can pick up an additional findings kit and you'll be able to make a second bra. You can also pick up a muslin kit if you'd like to practice and refine your fit before cutting into your lace. Finally, I strongly recommend that you pick up some water soluble thread. It's a wonderful way to get the most out of your materials.
This is just the first step in your bra sewing journey! Once you have these basics down you can join us for Bee on a Wire in October and make your first underwired bra.
