Are you looking to make your own bras? The Loftus is a great place to start for women whose breast volume is moderate to large, and it's both supportive and attractive! Sue will walk you through the entire sewing process, but only after you've already learned all about materials, parts of the bra, sewing techniques and all the other things that provide the foundation for lingerie sewing. We'll step through in a logical, methodical manner, and you'll have real support the entire time.
We've sourced all sorts of wonderful fabrics, colors and laces for all of our bras, and this one is no exception. We've included lace in both of our Loftus kit options, which sounds a bit tricky but really won't be tricky at all. We'll walk you through every step of the process in the Hive during our twice-weekly live meetings. We have 2 different kits, a cool purple and blue with Shakespeare (...a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet...) and a warm peach with Patsy (named for Patsy Cline). Both kits are great for this project. There will be plenty of fabric, so you can pick up an additional findings kit and with many sizes you'll be able to make a second bra. Some gals will find that both the Jordy and the Loftus will work for them, or you might have a young gal in your life to sew for. You can pick up a Jordy add-on and get an entirely different bra! You can also pick up a muslin kit if you'd like to practice and refine your fit before cutting into your lace. Finally, I strongly recommend that you pick up some water soluble thread. It's a wonderful way to get the most out of your materials.
This is just the first step in your bra sewing journey! Once you have these basics down you can join us for Bee on a Wire in October and make your first underwired bra.
